EXCLUSIVE: It’s known as the Dark Web — the encrypted network that is fully anonymous and where both criminals and truth-tellers dwell, and now there’s a movie. Here is the first trailer for Anonymous, which will open in the top 20 markets across the country beginning in Los Angeles and New York on December 2.
The film, which co-stars Lorraine Nicholson, Jack’s daughter (yes, she’s in the trailer), is about a teenager who turns to a life of digital crime and theft when his family hits some financial trouble. As he delves further and further into hacking, he meets a streetwise hustler who introduces him to the world of black-market trading and also a hacker (Nicholson). Eventually, they run into the head of an online crime syndicate, and their lives are turned upside down.
Anonymous, which is said to be based on a true story — but, honestly, who knows? — stars Callan McAuliffe (Flipped, I Am Number 4), Nicholson (Soul Surfer), Daniel Eric Gold (Charlie Wilson’s War) and Clifton Collins Jr. (Westworld).
Anonymous is directed by Akan Satayev, written by Sanzhar Sultan, and co-written by Timur Zhaksylykov. It is produced by Sanzhar Sultan and executive produced by Jai Khanna, Loudon Owen and Satayev. Take a look at this well-shot film from Satayev and a well-cut trailer from Jim Hale at Fishbowl Films (yeah, we asked):
